Extubation

admin1o1

Once the patient has regained respiratory autonomy, extubation takes place: the removal of the intubation tube. It can be an unpleasant moment for the patient, but it’s also an important one, marking the end of the acute phase.

NB: in the event of therapeutic failure, and when treatment is withdrawn, extubation may be carried out to allow the patient to live out his or her final moments free from medical restrictions.
